The patent drafting course took place between 4 -8 September 2017 and was attended by participants from Botswana, Malawi, Zambia, Namibia, Kenya, Ghana, Lesotho, Mozambique, Sudan, the United Republic of Tanzania and Zimbabwe. Ms Nokuzola Ndlovu, a legal practitioner in IP department, attended the 5-day training.
Course participants included academics, patent lawyers and national office officials from Botswana, Malawi, Zambia, Namibia, Kenya, Ghana, Lesotho, Mozambique, Sudan, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania and Zimbabwe. The course was coordinated by Mr Atif Bhatti (WIPO) and speakers included Mr Masaharu Kizu (Japan), Mr Robert J. Sayre (USA) and Mr Bastiaan Koster (South Africa), all experts in the field of patent law.
