  1. BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

Role Description

The purpose of this role is to lead, drive and advise on business development activity for the firm. Emphasis will be on enhancing current business development processes and initiating new ones to advance the firm’s strategic objectives.

 

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with firm management committee and staff members to create, manage, budget for and implement business and marketing plans. This will include acting as advisor to the firm in relation to the marketplace and how to approach it as well as a leader in the commercial implementation of these plans.
  • Deliver and participate in client facing, marketing driven initiatives such as events, seminars, client workshops and roundtables and attend marketing opportunities with partners and lawyers.
  • Manage and coordinate the firm’s participation in pitches, contributing to the progression of new business opportunities and driving activities with a view to closing new business.
  • Apply a sophisticated approach to the use of data, web, SEO, analytics, business analysis, client targeting and the development of content for business development.

Experience, Skills & Knowledge

  • Significant business development experience working in a professional services environment
  • Experience of developing and implementing business and marketing plans, including budgeting are a must
  • Understanding of the basics of data driven and digital marketing
  • Experience of driving through change in a challenging environment
  • Marketing and/or business administration degree or related qualifications required. Legal background or legal training is an added advantage
  • Drive, energy and the determination to create a rewarding and impactful role in an ambitious firm where change is occurring rapidly

  1. HEAD OF FINANCE

 

Role Description

 

The purpose of this role is to manage the financial affairs of the firm particularly in a challenging and constantly changing economic environment to ensure that the firm remains financially viable.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and control the firm’s budgets
  • Produce and present regular financial reports to the firm management committee
  • Administer the payroll
  • Prepare and file all tax returns (payroll and statutory tax returns) and ensure that the firm’s tax affairs are in order
  • Interface with auditors, tax advisors and revenue authorities
  • Monitor and reconcile cash balances
  • Institute efficient controls for cash management
  • Processing supplier invoices and ensuring timely payments
  • Apply a sophisticated approach to the use of data and analytics in financial planning and financial management of the firm

Experience, Skills & Knowledge

  • Accounting bachelors’ degree from a reputable institution and a professional accounting qualification. Being a qualified and registered chartered accountant is an added advantage
  • At least 5 years’ experience working in a professional services environment; experience working for a busy law firm or chartered accounting firm an added advantage
  • Able to work with automated billing and payment systems
  • Experience with tax planning and interfacing with tax authorities
  • Business administration experience an added advantage
  • Able to maintain discretion and confidentiality
  • Can demonstrate initiative, innovativeness and the ability to be proactive, while also being able to implement assigned tasks and provide support to the firm’s management committee
  • Can carry out all responsibilities in an ethical manner, with professionalism and in a way which supports the practice’s values and promotes its equal opportunities and diversity principles
  1. OFFICE MANAGER

 

Role Description

 

The purpose of this role is to coordinate the firm’s activities and operations as guided by the firm’s strategic objectives and to undertake administrative tasks as may be assigned by the firm management committee.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit and supervise support staff
  • Manage procurement of office supplies in accordance with the firm’s policies
  • Provide implementation support to the firm management committee and the Business Development Manager
  • Create and update records and databases with personnel, financial and other data
  • Set up and maintain integrated electronic and paper-based filing systems
  • Plan and coordinate staff trainings
  • Promote and ensure compliance with firm policies and procedures in work flows
  • Prepare and submit timely reports and presentations as required or assigned by management committee

Experience, Skills & Knowledge

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration; MBA and/or human resources qualification is an added advantage
  • Prior office management experience a must
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills
  • Basic financial literacy an added advantage
  • Knowledge of MS Office programs and office management software
  • Able to work without supervision
  • Able to handle confidential information
  • Can demonstrate initiative and the ability to be proactive, while also being able to implement assigned tasks and provide support to the firm’s management committee
