Sharon Bwanya


Sharon has been practicing as a commercial lawyer for 12 years and has been with MawereSibanda since she graduated from law school. She is a partner in the firm’s Corporate Advisory, Banking & Finance and Infrastructure practice groups where she is instrumental in leading tactical legal initiatives, structuring complex local and cross-border business transactions, advising on regulatory and compliance matters, advising local and foreign investors in assessing and implementing investments in Zimbabwe and in providing end to end legal advice in large scale infrastructure and energy projects from feasibility studies, licensing, project funding, EPC contracts, off-take agreements and post implementation support. Sharon’s clientele includes financial institutions, pension funds, listed corporations, asset management firms, venture capital firms, EPC and O&M contractors, government departments and foreign investors.

Sharon holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree with Honours from the University of Zimbabwe for which she was awarded the University Book Prize. She is currently in pursuit of a Global MBA from the IBR Institute of International Business Relations of Steinbeis University in Germany. She has additional certifications from Arizona State University in the USA and the University of Cape Town in South Africa.

She is currently a member of the firm’s Management Committee that is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day administration of the firm from human resources management, financial planning, procurement, business development and corporate social responsibility initiatives. She is also a non-resident partner in our associate firm, Makuyana Legal Practice, in Botswana. Additionally, she sits on the boards of several professional associations and not-for-profit organizations.
