For more than three decades, Munyaka Makuyana has advised businesses, investors, financial institutions, transport operators, and industry stakeholders on some of the most complex commercial, regulatory, and cross-border matters in Southern Africa.
As a Founding Partner of Makuyana Legal Practice in Botswana and MawereSibanda Legal Practitioners in Zimbabwe, he has built a practice focused on helping clients navigate the legal and regulatory challenges associated with doing business across jurisdictions. His work sits at the intersection of law, trade, transport, and commerce, enabling organisations to manage risk, resolve disputes, structure transactions, and pursue growth opportunities with confidence.
Beyond client advisory work, he has contributed to the drafting of legislation and regulatory frameworks and continues to advise organisations operating in highly regulated sectors. This experience provides valuable insight into the legal and regulatory environments in which businesses operate and informs the practical, commercially focused advice he provides to clients.
He holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Import and Export Law and a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) degree from the University of Zimbabwe. He is admitted to practise in Zimbabwe and Botswana.
His focus remains on helping clients make informed strategic decisions in dynamic and highly regulated environments, drawing on extensive regional experience to address legal challenges, unlock commercial opportunities, and support sustainable business growth across Southern Africa.
